I listen to Bach a fair bit, especially at work, but I only recently discovered this Fantasia and Fuge in A Minor, which took me by surprise, because it reminded me of Dancing Mad and I’ve never heard Bach be so dramatic.
Seeing this played live was life-altering, I miss the math rock boom
Oof, I didn’t know he died. Shit.
I keep remembering bands I liked in 2008; it’s happened three times in the last year (Mew, Kashiwa Daisuke, Uh Huh Her). I only ever had this one Uh Huh Her album, but there was a time when it and that one Metric album (looked it up: Old World Underground) were on heavy rotation in my music diet.
This is posted here as it is this morning and I am listening to it, but I also feel it could be at home in the following topics:
-
Non-game music that reminds you of a game - even though some of it was used in Labyrinth: Maō no Meikyū I would like to have heard even more of it used in a video game of any kind.
-
Music - The Topic! - the more I hear of David Bowie the more I understand why people love him so much. Not just for his music, but the fact I believe he may have been the coolest person ever. This deserves yet more discussion.
-
Cats - Danny John-Jules sung vocals on Chilly Down. It’s a long shot but it could still belong there.
-
Music that nobody knows about - Trevor Jones wrote the score to Labyrinth. Trevor Jones also wrote the score for one actual video game, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects It’s actually pretty good and worth a listen here
Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s Thirteen O’Clock.
