What does Hayao Miyazaki think of Sonic and Tails’s airplane, the Tornado?
Fun fact: the plane is more aerodynamic when Sonic is standing on top of the wings.
He studied it glibly.
what is the Chappell Roan of video games? (your favorite artist’s favorite artist)
((sorry if this was asked before))
What is the ‘unknowingly posting the same thing more than once over a span of years’ of video games?
Me

Whenever I see the word “lazy” pop up in video game discourse I impulsively start rolling my eyes and bracing for the next word to be “devs” or “cashgrab”.
Is it possible to use that term to talk about games without sounding like just the worst person to be around? What’s a good faith way of calling a game lazy?
I think “rushed” is typically more accurate, since things that appear to be laziness are often explained by short deadlines.
im a plain old non-game software dev and senior devs made a point that lazy is a compliment when i was coming up. i still think of it as a synonym for clever, creative, and thrifty when it comes to making something
i think this is true but while game jams and crunch culture are the two sides of the same coin i think the better catch all term would be “mismanaged”
I don’t think so.
Lazy, when used in the typical online gaming discourse, is a personal attack at a relatively anonymous group (“the devs”) that instantly displays a lack of understanding of how (game) software is made and that it usually involves a whole bunch of people that can only partially influence the overall outcome of the product.
I find it less toxic when it’s used for yelling at a larger company instead of “the devs”. But it still doesn’t really add any value to the conversation.
That word, for me, signals more than anything that somebody didn’t want to think about or look deeply into how to say something meaningful but didn’t want to stay quiet either.
In summary: Using the word lazy in that context is lazy.
We must reclaim a new sense of laziness that goes back to some older uses of the word.
Lazy, adj. & n., 1b, “Applied to things, places, or conditions, favourable or appropriate to laziness. 1609-”
Let us call a game “lazy” as a compliment! What game allows us to laze, to relax and let our hair down?
This usage shouldn’t be unknown. We had Lazy Sunday. We have La Z Boy. Dragon Quest III is a lazy game.
I don’t believe in laziness. I think it’s always a superficial observation to call someone lazy.
I linked to the screenshot source: the Oxford English Dictionary entry for “lazy, adj. & n.” I should have been more clear with that.
Ah, whoops! Not your fault, I must be posting too hard.
Rocket League.
