This thread has totally changed my mind about Mario RPG. I used to think Mario is a revolutionary for taking down the old money bourgeois Booster and liberating the shy guys from under the boot of capitalist exploitation. But in truth, he's just spreading the opiate of the masses. Smithy is the true proletariat for usurping the divine right to rule,
just the existence of houses of worship in the mushroom kingdom does nothing to suggest Mario‘s own beliefs. He could just be visiting. I’ve been to many religious events as a guest, doesn't say anything about my personal affiliation

The problem is, (with exceptions) Nintendo doesn‘t stand for anything, and therefore can’t have their mickey mouse like mascot stand for anything either. Mario is the type of low information voter to find out about foreign policy via a Stephen Colbert monologue. He is incredibly hard to pin down, psychologically. I do not think he would vote given the chance, and if asked for political affiliation, would not choose either left or right wing.

This has maybe been mentioned before, however it’s worth repeating that in Super Mario Bros. 2 you may play every level with, not only an expanded cast of characters but as an expanded cast of characters with expanded physical abilities! You know who keeps an absolute grip on his movement physics like a fundamentalist to their bible? Who spits in the face of experimental movement-thought even when navigating a strange land?
