I worked the night shift so I’m going to bed soon, so putting in The Gamer Awards is like one of the first things I’m gonna do in the day, ffs
i’m prepping for a move tonight so won’t be able to catch live, can’t wait to see after though and skip through all the bullshit. logging off after work to mitigate spoilers!
I have plans tonight but I’m looking forward to the five minutes I’ll spend browsing through the headline announcements and a single trailer over my breakfast tomorrow.
What’s the best way to watch the TGA awards on an iPad?
So in the past 2 days I have gone from
- Not knowing this movie existed
- Hearing about it and excitedly buying tickets
- Only now hearing about the AI upscaling backlash
we’ll see how it goes
Show starts 01:30 here, do I stay up all night to watch it?
I don’t care about the awards, it’s just every time I don’t watch one of these they announce something that genuinely interests me and me only, so no one else talks about it and I am not aware of its existence until years later.
propped up, off to the side while something much better is on the main screen. Let me suggest: Infinity Nikki
@Hunter sorry about that. I’ve been following Interstellar 5555 since earlier this year when DP streamed it on Twitch. It was then I discovered it was h̶o̶r̶r̶i̶f̶i̶c̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ b̶u̶t̶c̶h̶e̶r̶e̶d̶ “improved” with AI and now anytime I see it pop up I have to mention it to save other people from that disappointment. Hopefully the music will be enough to distract because I remember some pretty gnarly “this is very clear and very poor AI” moments with fingers and whatnot.
It’s unfortunate that I have something fun tonight to do instead since it’s D&D night, but my partner and I have been interested in TGA ever since the shit show of 2022 where the God of War guy talked for a LONG time (which was actually kind of sweet) and that kid snuck on stage. Then last year, they blasted through what should have been touching moments.
Honestly, it’s maybe a bit morbid, but I just want to see what will go wrong this year. It’s hard to care about the actual awards when they unceremoniously skim through most of them like a kid reading a book for English class.
Oh, no, the virus is now everywhere…
Honestly, I hope AI upscales get out of here, but from the Killer7 thingy image remaster to seeing films like The Crowd being remade in that fashion I think AI upscaling is here to stay.
Please enjoy the film tonight for me! I mentioned this in the music thread here Music - The Topic! - #270 by Tom as I’m curious to see what version they’re actually showing.
Even not seeing it, close your eyes and enjoy one of the best albums ever made in no doubt through a truly incredible sound system.
Plus if you need to watch it again, you could. One more time!
I feel like we’re due for some decent sized announcements so maybe this one’ll be decent, but every time I watch one of these Keighley shows I regret it. Honestly didn’t even play many AAA games this year so I don’t even really have any input on the awards. I played a lot of indie stuff but most of it didn’t get nominations.
Do you stream it through yt or like, I dunno, the steam website in Safari?
I’m also (a little) sad that I have something more fun and fulfilling to do tonight. I find it kind of exhilarating to be a little goblin and watch a twitch stream and mostly make fun of whatever is happening but occasionally something goes wrong or something cool happens and it’s fun to be part of the mob witnessing it in real time. I don’t have much interest in watching trailers after the fact.
Is that a bad thing?
Yeah I kinda love finding out about some thing I like about a week before it comes out.
Please, for the love of all that is good, do not
It should be noted that I regularly go to bed at 5 in the morning, so this isn’t a blow to my sleep cycle, just supreme waste of time. Indefensible.
I wonder if Sega is going to say anything more about its resurrections of past franchises.
Actually then in that case I’d say yes for sure. Totally defensible, might even be a good idea (it may likely lull you to sleep)
Actually…
This thread has been extremely helpful in reminding me of things The Verge should consider in terms of coverage for tonight. There are some things that have been hard confirmed (hazelight’s new game) or are extremely likely (something something GTA VI) that we can prepare ahead of time, but it’s hard trying to guess what might make an appearance that’s worth 250+ words. I don’t necessarily know if an update on Sega’s revival of its older titles is worth consideration ahead of time but I’ve at least been reminded so I can ask my boss.
Thank you all!
