@“hellomrkearns”#p126269 thanks for sharing

I think I could be interested in this group's work in general! I'd be interested in buying dvds to play on my ps2 if they're reasonably priced.

@“treefroggy”#p126282 they have been doing some cool stuff!

what‘s wild is I have a clock of this identical design, but it’s a pig. the hands on the clock, the spring button, battery compartment and knob in the back are all identical. Except instead of the A logo on the clock face, it‘s S for SHIBIAO. Must be a chinese knockoff that’s still in production– there are pikachu ones from shibiao, but not this earliest 90‘s design, which is the only one I’d want…

Edit: did a quick search and realized there are a ton of these of various shapes and all have the same clock face. Even the later ones are pretty chubby so I could probably just paint the face white for a vintage look!

@“HyggeState”#p125969 I've only played Digimon Cyber Sleuth and that game is pretty darn solid. The sequel is apparently pretty solid too.

Some of the early segments of Cyber Sleuth play a lot like some of the early segments of Soul Hackers too. I think there is some connective tissue between the two games.

Anyway, it's probably worth while scoping out a second hand copy of the first Cyber Sleuth on PS4. It's oddly not available on the online store (in Australia) only the sequel is. Downside is is that the Switch Cyber Sleuth combo pack might be the superior way to play those games.

Hello fellow Digidestined

Hello fellow tamers

Digimon be SHITTIN!!!

@"donrumata"#p126868 WOAHHH that's incredible. Someone reverse engineered the digital monster battle format and made one for GB! there's a basement coder working on something like this also.

The fact the box says "for use with game boy light" is also a rarity.

RIP my first Digimon in this game. Got him all the way to MetalGreymon(which the fan tl seems to have mistranslated), he died as he lived: hungry and full of poop. Was a very good partner who got me through like all of the early game stuff.

Now feels like the real meat is starting where you have to keep raising new Mons. The guides I was looking at for upgrade paths look quite complicated and there is no in-game reference for anything so I think I’m just gonna hatch new egg types and wing it.

@“sabertoothalex”#p126934 that’s no mistake. It’s metal tyrannomon

@“treefroggy”#p126960 shoot you're right!! I feel even more accomplished now tbh lol

Now that I'm a few hours past this point...I feel like the Digimon World games are kind of top tier hang out games. The spaces are intimate and inviting but the real hangout thing is just that because of the way mon raising works you just gotta hang out. It's a requirement. You have to spend time with your mons, you have to take them around, you have to feed them, you have to get very familiar with the services the spaces in the world occupy. I can see how this could get very grindy and time consuming but at least right now in Redigitize Recode it's awesome.

happy Devimon is also crazy cute

OK. I have read all of the blog I posted above.

I can now confirm with confidence that I have no interest in any digimon after the year 1999.

What became of the mixed media project (anime, cards, games) that stemmed out from the initial 1997 virtual pets, was primarily a low budget direct competitor to pokemon, shooting for an audience that was only two or three years older than the audience of pokemon lol

and that original concept was freaking shweet : 3
but it went downhill so quickly, it was always pretty dumb, cheap, inconsistent. they didn't expect it to last very long.
but the coolest part imo is bandai's electronic devices...
so you could say my enthusiasm for tamagotchis is what keeps me in the digimon world. the original grotesque drawings, the vpets, and any love I have for the anime characters is running on pure nostalgia fumes. Once they stripped away the "raising" aspect, I no longer have any interest. I do *own* the first digivice from 1999 now, but that's pretty much just nostalgia from having one as a kid... It doesn't function much as a virtual pet, so IDK how much fun I'll have with it aside from the pretty clear blue plastic.

I'm still raising my ver. 20th! I will pivot to another monster game for this thread eventually... when summer is over and I can run my CRT without overheating.

@“treefroggy”#p126591 welp

@“sabertoothalex”#p127138 don't fret. the “worst boys” of each egg group can become the most powerful of the three ultimate forms……. ensure they win 13 of 16 battles in a row….

I really want to get into Digimon. The designs look cool, I heard the anime is good (especially the apparently meta 3rd series), the Cybersleuth games seem great, these digital pets look awesome, and I've heard the card game is great as well. It seems like everything in the series is pretty good.

What's the opinion out there on Fossil Fighters? It got a few games and I am interested in a monster collecting RPG that's "Oops, All Dinosaurs!" because like many others, I too love dinosaurs.
