New month, new game! September 2024’s game is E.V.O.: Search for Eden for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System:
I just nominated a game but it showed up in row 64 of the spreadsheet for reasons I don’t know, so I thought I should say it’s there because it doesn’t seem like it is at first glance.
This is a weird quirk of Google Forms and archiving old entries. New entries get inserted at the old row count. I’ve just moved them up at the start of each month but will also add a note in the spreadsheet too.
I was thinking, it’s been a while since we had a themed month. Maybe we could do something scary for October? Anybody have a cool game they’d want to throw out for that?
If I were to suggest one, maybe Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve played through it, and it might be fun to compare notes on builds and approaches to levels and stuff. And it’s got plenty of spooky stuff going on.
Anything else come to mind for anybody? We could also just proceed business-as-usual, of course.
I’d be down for that or for similar.
A short Halloween one I’d go for would be Forbidden Forest or Beyond the Forbidden Forest. It may just be that I played it when I was a very small kid, but it still fills me with apprehension. It’s you with a bow versus a monster with foreboding music.
There’s already one on the spreadsheet where the submitter asked for it to not be picked until October. Maybe that one?
Oh yeah there is one of those!
I see it’s Metal Gear Solid 2000 aka Ghost Babel is that spooky enough for the theme? It does have ghost in the title. But I’m also game to do a themed spooky game if a loose consensus can be reached by Oct 1.
¯_(ツ)_///¯ I didn’t see what the game was.
I’m not sure if the submitter meant “pick in October, please” or “pick after October because that’s when I’m available”.
If it’s the first, my vote goes to honoring their wishes, but I’m open to being overruled.
I think Ghost Babel just has ghost in the name but is otherwise primarily a tactical espionage action game. Could be wrong on that, I’m going off a playthrough I watched a couple years ago.
I’ve played it. It’s definitely not a Halloweeny game, but I don’t place too much stock in Holiday-theming. We don’t need to play a dating sim in February or a Mother-like in May either.
If you want something horror-themed and of reasonable length, Sweet Home for Famicom and Baroque for PS1 come to mind.
Excited to see the new thread. I had a ton of fun last month, and want to participate again!
Gonna get the thread booted up here in a few! Just welcomed a new baby into my family very recently, so I’m a bit behind. But the Monthly Game Club must continue!
I am really loving this idea for a special themed edition! Seems like a great game club game for the month. Will get the thread going…
We’re live for October '24!
Congrats, by the way!
November’s thread has launched—Factorio:
Does anyone have any winter/x-mas game suggestions for a themed game in December? Could be kind of fun!
I was going to suggest Linda Cube Again (as in, the game called Linda Cube Again, not Linda Cube one more time).
Doing Linda Cube twice in the same year is sorta overkill.
Did another club do it or did the fan translation drop this year?
