I guess I should actually try to contribute something. How about Snowboard Kids? I haven’t touched it in probably 25+ years, but it was decent fun when I would play it at a friend’s house as a kid.
I understand Raw Danger is a bit of a Christmas game, though I haven’t gotten round to playing it yet.

One of the games I think of as christmas-y is Donkey Kong Country 3, particularly with the code that makes all the bonus levels holiday themed. That game has gotten some undeserved flak over the years, and I think maybe it stands out better when you’re NOT playing it as the third game in a series marathon. Pretty good for this format, in other words.

I always think of my pick (Nethack) as a winter holiday game, since I usually play it the most when I need periodic escapes from family and holidaying. Sometimes I die in a 15 minute break. Other times I end up in a run that carries me through several days of being with family.
Mechanically, the short-session game fits my holiday expectations well. Aquanaut’s Holiday sounds like it could work, for instance.

Anybody been thinking about a January game? I’ve been thinking about what I see as the essential elements of January: relief that the holidays are over, a sense of melancholy that everything is back to normal again, doomed resolutions to do or be better, a sense of new beginnings, the cold of winter no longer romanticized.
As I was musing, I landed on a Shiren being a January game. I don’t think I’m prepared to explain that with words. Anybody else been giving this some thought?

Jan 2025’s game is Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale!
Good topic for a meta-discussion on the MGC—are 3DS eShop games allowed moving forward? Idk how easy it is to emulate these games or acquire them. It’s sad that games like Attack of the Friday Monsters! and Crimson Shroud aren’t easily accessible anymore.

It’s very easy to locate this ROM and emulate it.
I’d say it’s just as fair of a choice as Baroque or Mad TV (or E.V.O. for that matter)

Oh man, I’ve been itching to play this game since it came out – but since a few years back, it carries some bona-fide bad personal associations for me!? Grr! We’ll see if I end up mustering the strength to join this one.
Trying to figure out if this is just an excuse to keep playing DKC3 for another month.
