@“exodus”#p48500 The foot-tappiness of this track has reminded me of a Jon Spencer Blues Explosion x Dub Narcotic Sound System collab album, Sideways Soul. Both groups aren‘t exactly unheard of but I’m fairly certain that this particular album is one of the hidden gems of their respective catalogues. It's very much an album to listen to in the background during a long walk, and speaking for myself, often restraining myself from breaking into a walk in time with the music.
Anyway, this is probably my favourite track from the album. It's nearly 10 minutes long but feels like half that.

On a similar note, a few years ago I got into what is essentially an improv blues x stoner rock jam band called Endless Boogie. They're probably significantly more well known in North America than in the UK so I'm not entirely sure how apt it is to put them here but they again are a good background-listening band given their frequently 10-minute tracks.
‘Eutopia’ by Otaka Tomooki (also known as HikkieP) is a record I can‘t believe isn’t universally lauded in experimental circles. It's a Vocaloid album, but pretty much contains the entirety of music and manages to set my whole brain all the way on fire.
Nobody knows about is not the right word in this case but nobody had heard, I guess!

For those uninitiated, there were 33 copies of this album ever printed, all on cassette, in 1994, and it’s been assumed to be lost for the almost 30 years since then
Like Italians say, _se non è vero, è ben trovato._
This song is from the 1991 album Devonian Boys by Gontiti.
This is one of the first albums that I ever remember hearing. I don't know what drew my Caribbean parents to a Japanese acoustic guitar duo, but I'm glad that it's something that they came across and that it's music to which I had access.
Not to share more Jon Spencer Blues Explosion but they did a collaboration album with R L Burnside many moons ago and it totally owns. The whole thing is a deeply finger-drummable album.
Yasuaki Shimizu/Mariah has gotten popular in recent years for being a Ryuichi Sakamoto-adjacent composer/saxophone genius, but I don't hear anyone talking about how good Dementos is:

[Music for Commercials](https://yasuakishimizu.bandcamp.com/album/music-for-commercials) is also worth a listen.
Edit:
[New album Kiren](https://paltoflats.bandcamp.com/album/kiren) of his was recently released for the first time a few days ago. Beautiful stuff.
Such a cool album—_Seiko 3_ was easily my favorite track on the [Kankyō Ongaku comp](https://kankyongaku.bandcamp.com/album/kanky-ongaku-japanese-ambient-environmental-new-age-music-1980-1990)
So yesterday Daft Punk, on the 1 year anniversary of breaking up, and on the 25th anniversary of the release of “Homework” had a surprise twitch stream of the never before released LA Concert from their 1997 tour.
This is basically one of my favorite albums (Homework) and one of my favorite live albums (Alive 1997), but remixed, live, and with new bits thrown in. Daft Punk seem to have their entire studio setup on stage and are playing it live.
They're definitely in the _easy listening_ genre of music; the type of stuff you might put on if you're having people over and don't want the music to be the talking point.
Give it a listen if you're itching for some singer/song writer type stuff
This is one of my favourite threads on this forum for all the interesting music I've discovered here. However, I have found it's quite tough to navigate if you've caught up to the present. To help out I decided to put all the linked music into a youtube playlist.
[Here is the link to the mega playlist](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrUNPs7NFnnqIL732S3Ph-HinGec3qLL5). It's 265 videos as of 2/03/22.
I'll try to keep it up to date.
Notes:
- I tried to get all the music in but some of it is so obscure it's never been uploaded. (aka winning the thread)
- There were a few links which went private/deleted so have been lost to the sea of information.
- In the circumstance someone linked an entire album, I took only a single track, usually the 3rd, to keep the playlist moving. In the case I could find only a full album and no tracks it was not linked, my apologies.
[color=red]I want to make clear, this not a replacement of the thread[/color], more of a new game+ . There's a lot of lore in this thread to read through and a few ultra obscure tracks and albums to listen to. It was mostly made so I can share some stuff of it at parties.
@“beets”#p60682 Nice! there‘s some stuff in that playlist that I adore and I wasn’t even aware that it was on this thread because of all the youtube broken embeds.
just found this album and I think I just discovered my new music obsession, it's amazing!

Here's an individual track for the playlist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m4l_e4ytoM
Thanks @“beets”#p60682 ; it’s not only a good idea to help keep track of stuff I had missed but also cool to see tracks I completely forgot I talked about here.
Can’t remember if I shared the (now) iconic (in my friends group) _Subway is a Lady_ before but I don’t see it in the playlist: I really dig what Milk Talk is doing and they just released a new track, *Plastic New York*.
Here is the old banger. Originally recommended by Youtube-chan so I am quite puzzled why it’s not a bigger deal! Super specific suggestion!

Here is the new banger. Not as iconic but warm and groovy.
Also I had been fascinated since 2007 by the Inoue Akira track heard in this old Yokohama Tire commercial, but could never ever track down if it had ever been materialized as a real song or simply been produced specifically for this CM campaign. I even remember trying to contact Inoue about it, unsuccessfully.

Turns out it’s the intro to this 1985 song, *Ice Age*, finally uploaded by some saintly soul on Youtube in 2019.
