I’m assuming they mean this for games that utilized the IR sensor on the joycon (Labo games) and Ring Fit where the controller won’t fit with the accessory anymore.

Gonna be real, I don’t get the mouse thing. Feel like whatever computer mice adds to games was already collectively covered by gyro pointers and touch screens. Also, tried holding a joycon like a mouse and it was not comfortable at all. If they’re banking hard on mouse functionality I sure hope you can plug in a real one.

The accessory bit mentioned above applies but I’m guessing also it’s same reason certain Xbox 360 games aren’t backwards compatible. Their compatibility layer stuff can’t capture everything so they’ll focus on making sure the most popular games work, but I bet there will some niche titles and eShop games that don’t.
I don’t know enough on the tech aspect or anything about Nintendo’s strategy obviously, but I think it’s safe to say this isn’t a situation where the exact chip is tucked away in the new system. It seems to be a similar Nvidia chip so that probably made it easier.

Nothing to add but watching the Switch 2 subreddit descend into madness was at least entertaining.
If the Switch 2 can run Tears of the Kingdom at 60fps then great I’m basically happy. At least for the love of god bring back a bit of charm to this new console: I’m talking about Wii shop style music, street pass, and MiiVerse…you know the good shit.
The Steam Deck isn’t available in Australia and the Rog Ally is retailing at $1,600 so if it’s cheaper then that great. Also wouldn’t surprise me if they sell the Switch 2 OLED edition in a couple of years.
Super Switch as a name may have worked but I guess they want to avoid comparisons with the Schutzstaffel given how litigious they are.
