That’s what I did; no dice. Example!
I think the issue is that the forum software is trying to generate a preview for you, and imgur are blocking the server with HTTP 429 (too many requests). The software is then replacing the img tag because it thinks it is a broken image.
It does this even if you try to use html <img>
tags.
You can copy the img to your clipboard and then paste it back, which will upload it here. I haven’t worked out a better workaround yet
Ah apologies. Yeah I think something like what @rejj is saying is correct.
The 429 error is something I’ve gotta fix on the weekend. Just no time right now.
Thanks for all the hard work migrating the forum, it is very much appreciated.
Whenever possible, as I know the mod team is probably quite busy, I’d like to change my username to “bonsai”, please.
All good?
thanks!!!
I really appreciate all the work that must have gone into migrating the forum over to Discourse. I’m still getting used to the layout and all the abilities and restrictions and such but I can start looking at editing old posts to correct formatting from tomorrow.
I’m really curious to know the answer to @SU2MM’s question regarding editing posts more than 30 days old. I also do this, very frequently, either to correct typos or information or whatever. I get why an admin might want to restrict this but I also don’t recall people abusing it here. Does Discourse’s backend give you any granular control over this limitation?
Also I’d think it would be nice for existing members to be able to opt into jumping straight to level 3, unless that would cause problems for you all?
It has been brought up and will allow people to obtain that status by using the forum. Some exceptions have been granted to allow a lot of editing but the plan is to let it evolve slowly into people achieving tl3.
Of course it’s not even been a day so that may change, but right now there’s still teething problems to sort out and having too many editors may cause issues we’re trying to avoid.
i like that i can have push notifications to new forum replies, but is there a way to get less emails like the old forum? it had an option to receive only one email per post until i went in and marked it as read, so it avoided filling my inbox with unnecessary emails
If you change how you view the topic to tracking it will just give you a number value, no emails.
I learned that one the hard way!
The gating of edits makes sense. I guess whenever I trickle my way to a Level 3 Fighter or whatnot I’ll go back and fix up the PICO-8 Dev Diary to be readable. Maybe I should also make a website to mirror those posts on…
I’ve just noticed my name is too long to display the whole 25 characters! That’s kind of a bummer. I guess I’ll just be TheFragranceOfDarkCo for a while
Can you put emoji in your username?
this post is just a test of how replies work
ok yeah, I did just miss the reply button in your post and used the generic reply to topic button
ok actually I don’t get it. why is there only a reply badge on my second reply to TFoDC’s comment?
Hello! Is it possible to change my username from “Adria2208” to “Adria”? I prefer not to have numbers, I think it reads more naturally that way
Done and done
When I have more than four minutes I’ll put a thread together for name change requests and work through them tomorrow during my day while most of the forum is asleep
Is there a way to increase the limit on bookmarking threads? I’d gone through and set all the threads I was following on the old forums to Tracking but then realized that doesn’t give you a list of followed threads anywhere, which is something I’d like to have. I’ve been bookmarking the threads but there’s apparently a limit within a 24h period.
You can, as it turns out, get a list of your tracked threads! There are two ways:
- Search the forum for
in:tracking
. - Go to your preferences, open the “tracking” tab, and then click “Show” next to “Tracking”.
