This is my idea for a character who delivers bones in a universe where you can order bones

Ah, the bone-bringer

I was an apprentice for a guy who has a ton of bones in his house. I never asked but I assume thatā€™s where he got them.

This is stretching the definition of things I made, but a couple of weeks ago I had a fall from my bike. Among other things, it broke my left side brake lever. I thought Iā€™d fixed it, but this weekend I went away with my family to an island and when my bike was loaded off the boat the lever was busted again:

The little rod in the middle is supposed to be held in the main body of the brake. From another angle:

The ball looking bit is supposed to sit in the silver socket at the back, held there by the black ring, which is a circlip. Itā€™s pretty fiddly, but the first time this happened I managed to get it back in place. Either I didnā€™t do it properly or something in there is damaged because itā€™s popped out again. Problem is itā€™s all but impossible to place the clip without circlip pliers and I didnā€™t bring those with me. There is a bike shop on the island but they donā€™t have any either. It is still possible to use the brake by pushing the rod around to the correct position, itā€™s just that when you let go of the handle it tends to slip out of position again. Anyways, I managed a bodge repair:

This hair elastic miraculously is exactly the right size and stretchiness to hold the lever in the right place without activating the brake, and the travel of the lever isnā€™t enough to make the band loosen and fall off when I pull it. This is probably a well known and obvious solution to the problem but I was pretty pleased to have come up with it. I rode about 30k with it like this today with no problems, even when one of these guys ran out in front of me while I was going downhill:

Quokkas exist on the mainland but Iā€™ve never seen one outside of Rottnest Island, which is named after them (ā€œRatā€™s Nestā€, though they arenā€™t rats) and has a pretty substantial population. They donā€™t usually run out in front of bikes in my experience, but I preferred this encounter to the dugite snake I nearly ran over last time I was here.

I have been posting the build pictures in the Hacks and Hardware thread, but now that we have reached completion. Here are the two Dreamcast Twin sticks I worked to build this year at Long Island Retro playing Xeno Crisis. The marquee idea is one mine as well. Really glad VGNY lets me see my wild ideas to completion.

I saw them in orlando black box collective in 2008.
hereā€™s the first back patch I ever sewed, with dental floss. never learned to sew didnā€™t care if it was uneven and there was screenprint underneath from a party.
nowadays I have so much mending work Iā€™ve been putting off for years and a bag full of cut up t-shirts to sew on.

@safety_lite I know someone who needs them badly:

I saw a beautiful pot from a boutique plant shop online. They wanted $70 for it. I made mine for $5.

what did you make it out of?

A cheap pot and Rustoleum gold spray paint. I made certain the surface was cleaned and dried. I bent a clothes hanger and fed it through the drainage hole to paint it, then I hung it to cure on a shower curtain rod over night. 5 minutes, $5. The original color for the pot was a sullen, matte black-grey.

I made a simple little gallery section for my website to display stuff I made.

I continue to be amazed by how easy modern CSS makes creating a responsive website these days. The work one had to do back in the day to create a functional layout that looked somewhat okay on one screen size was astounding and now media queries and flex box make it all relatively easy to allow mobile users to have an okay experience. Iā€™m glad that not all technology is regressing. And Iā€™m glad that I donā€™t need JavaScript for the most basic functionality.

Anyway, my prime motivation for the gallery was to show off the Signalis-based postcard design I made earlier this month.

Hereā€™s the vector image:

And hereā€™s a picture of the printed postcards, one of which now lives in the US:

Havenā€™t done any big Creative Things in a while, but I did wanna share a short animation I did for my final project this past spring semester.

I actually almost took an online animation class when I was a kid, but I didnā€™t have the patience to figure out how to use a Wacom tablet at the time and I ended up dropping out of it. My sister started using the tablet and now sheā€™s an incredible artist, so I kind of figured that role was filled in my family, lmao.

I really enjoy the process of conceptualizing a scene and bringing it to life so I can see myself doing this again in the future. Itā€™s just hard to find something Iā€™m gonna commit to without the structure of a class breathing down my neck.

Thank you! If you would like to have one I had a couple more printed than I actually need and am willing to part with them. Feel free to get in touch via DM if youā€™re interested!

Iā€™m feeling creative recently and honestly itā€™s amazing.

Iā€™ve become quite interested in Tarot and Oracle card designs ever since I first stumbled upon Yoshi Yoshitaniā€™s Tarot of the Divine, which replaces the classic tarot designs with illustrations of deities, folklore and fairy tales from all over the world.

After designing that Signalis postcard and getting a glimpse into the world of vector graphic design I played with the thought of designing some simple, stylized Oracle cards myself.

During the design process some recent video game ideas of mine started mixing with the card ideas and Iā€™m currently working out how to combine the two into a whole!

Links to full-size versions of the cards can be found here.

These look awesome!!

Have you heard of The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood? I only played the demo but it involves creating your own tarot cards as part of the story and I had a lot of fun with it. Itā€™s a little more extravagant and colorful than your approach; it might be an interesting reference point.
