Too much snow

[upl-image-preview url=https://i.imgur.com/CS5kN9E.jpeg]

We got serious freezing rain yesterday so I felt pretty proud of myself for screwing screws into my trail shoes. Saw at least one person slip right on their ass on my way to the bakery in the morning. I, meanwhile, was as nimble as a forest creature on the glossy sidewalks.

I got out the door in the evening to return a book to the library but thought on it, decided the risk of getting hit by a slip sliding car was not worth avoiding a late fee, turned around and went home.

_what's up it is almost 98F_

(We usually get a few days in the 40's C here (41-42 C ish, which is 105-107ish F), but hopefully I don't get to post the 46C increment of this post)

Saw some big fluffy flakes this morning! :open_mouth::snowflake:

The city got pretty snowed-in yesterday but someone came and plowed so it's all good.

Last Sunday the streets were actually dry enough for me to take my marathon skates out for a bit. It was super sketchy and I could only make it as far as two or three blocks safely but I had to do it.

Month-ish check in for winter fatigue. How we all doin?

PS get a load of this sidewalk

man this thread stresses me out :open_mouth:

@“whatsarobot”#p101874 is it the subject or the postcount? We can start a new megathread

@“connrrr”#p101876 lol i think it's just PTSD. having grown up in Ontario, the photos here strike fear in my heart. i have fled Canadian winters, and can no longer fathom the strength and perseverance you all here must have.

@“whatsarobot”#p101877 here’s some recent photos I grabbed while out on walks. Hopefully they have a calming effect

@“rejj”#p101879 these are gorgeous

@“connrrr”#p101873 The snowbanks on the sides of my driveway are almost as tall as I am!!

@“whatsarobot”#p101874 I absolutely get that! My equivalent is torrential rain, because I lived in the PNW where every time there was torrential rain the basement flooded. I‘m sure I’ll get to a place of trauma here eventually but it will probably take something like an extended power outage when it's -30°C– Edmonton specializes in cold, not depth of snow, lol.

It's snowing again here, and it's down to -8°C, which is only strange because it was +7°C yesterday. We had a shocking amount of melt during what's often one of the coldest months of the year. Totally great and awesome to have a bunch of snow mold in the yard to get my allergies into warp speed. >!(it's cool, cool, totally cool and not worrisome at all for it to be that warm in January, I am not concerned at all, why do you ask?)!<

I might post some photos later once it's snowed enough to be photogenic.

Doing okay. Warmest January I remember which was nice for me. It's cooling down again and snowing a bit.

Someone's having fun

@“Karasu”#p101932 the melt and then freeze meant we‘ve got hella icicles all around town. I pulled a baseball bat sized one off my neighbour’s roof and was playing with it in the alleyway, when it broke and went errant so I had to run inside before someone saw me.

You can't spell global warming without goblin(ize).

@“connrrr”#p101935 The result for me of the melt and freeze has been that the dog‘s part of the yard is a nice thick sheet of ice that has encased his toilet crimes. We had so much melt though that everyone’s roof was completely snow-free, and all of the melt had drained away, which is wild.

We got a whooole lot of snow. I took my sweet boy out at 3am and there was nowhere to pee so I stomped a spot down by the tree for him. Then I had to drive to Chicago for an errand at 6:30 in the morning. Im glad the snow stopped!
