Snow Time 2023 (Southern Hemisphere Do Not Interact (jk))

I caught a fever under a polar vortex. Winter is the enemy and snow symbolizes everything that is abominable in my life. Satan free me from this living hell.

The snow is so puffy today!!! :white_heart::white_heart::white_heart:

I keep forgetting to take pics of these monster icicles while it's light out, and it's hard to not creepily get someone's window in the shot. Trust me for now that they are menacing.

@“connrrr”#p102122 whoa

So, I promised monsters. I hope this is me delivering:

@“connrrr”#p102452 oh dang those are some great icicles, you weren’t kidding!

@“connrrr”#p102452 everytime i see icicles i think about how, in my weed smokin‘ days, they’d be such a treat to load up in a bong. you‘d need a huge bong for those. it’d be dank as fuck yo!

@“connrrr”#p102452 wow those are some genuine risks to public safety

There‘s an apartment complex down the street from me that has completely busted rain troughs and downspouts, so in most winters, it has this mass of gigantic, two-story icicles that has to be like a meter across, where runoff from the roof and drained down the outside of the building. Sadly (for the sake of this thread, at least) this winter, with its several weeks of completely normal and not concerning at all above freezing weather, the icicles are a tiny fraction of what they usually are, but I’ll try and take a photo at some point to share here.

@“connrrr”#p102452 glancing at the windows more closely. Glad I didn't get myself into a Blow-Up (1966)-type situation taking these.

@“pasquinelli”#p102465 I don‘t understand lol I’m a bad canadian. Do you mean just like putting ice in your bong water?

@“DavidNoo”#p102479 before I listen to this, is there a murder recorded in the audio? Am I walking into a Blow Out (1981)-type situation???

also I didn't know we could upload audio like that

@“connrrr”#p102480 Nah it‘s from Zelda. Also, I didn’t know either so I tried and was pleasantly surprised!

@“connrrr”#p102476 it's just a bong as usual with the addition of icicle.

@“pasquinelli”#p102488 oh I see! I guess that would make a rip less harsh on the throat?

@“connrrr”#p102489 yeah, it's pretty chill

@“connrrr”#p102489

As someone who smoked for over 15 years I can tell you this is a placebo, bacteria is harsh on your throat, there's no substitute for a properly rolled hygienic blunt.

Except for edibles

@“IncompatibleKaiser”#p102501 heat isn't a factor?

@“pasquinelli”#p102513

In kelvins it‘s high, in joules it’s really not that much. The inside of your mouth heals about 3 times as fast as your skin but the toxins in smoke suppress cell metabolism for about 24 hours iirc. If you were actually burning your mouth by smoking you‘d have burns on your tongue first, but what actually happens is your cilia stop moving so you end up with a bunch of of gunk on your tongue to scrape off. That gunk gets in your lungs where those cilia also stop moving and make you vulnerable to respiratory infection because you don’t move mucus as effectively until you recover from smoke inhalation. You‘ve probably had actual burns in your mouth if you’ve ever smoked harder drugs or sipped hot liquids too fast so you should be able to tell that a little bit of smoke isn't actually burning you with hot ash. Not severely anyway.

What I've heard is it takes about 2-4 weeks after quitting smoke to recover your cardio and respiratory stamina, and that's if you actually torture yourself with exercise to remove the mucus and toxins built up in there. If you go for a run and your chest burns and you have to cough into the dirt for a minute, that's because you still have poison in there and haven't restored your healthy pink tissue. If you're a heavy smoker like snoop dog or a pack a day cigarette smoker, some sources suggest it could take as much as _7 years_ to fully regain your health while retaining an increased risk of cancer.

I once read some medical material and found out that canada assesses "Light usage" as one spliff a day or less and "Heavy usage" as up to **fifty** so chances are if you do smoke pot you're not in nearly as deep as you could be. I'd love to get a look at what kind of research trials they're running though, reminds me of those monkeys they just gasmasked till they were stoned out of their minds and dying of oxygen deprivation to falsify results in the 70s.

@“IncompatibleKaiser”#p102533 oh, i wasn't trying to suggest that cooling smoke more with an icicle would help the longer term (as in hours) harmful effects of smoking, just that the cooler smoke is more pleasant to smoke in the moment.
