- Does it use HD rumble?
- tried playing with a gamecube controller? I want to pretend.
- I assume it’s like a two-button game so I could also try an n64 controller with it ;)
@treefroggy I feel like Triangle Strategy and maybe also Ace Attorney 123 are bad ideas if you are not planning to commit. Triangle is a mood and requires a few hours of investment to really get going. Ace Attorney, if you drop it mid case, YMMV but you may not feel brave enough to return to the game later on.
Dungeon Encounters, Loop Hero and Kirby are all good games that you’ll « get » in about 2-3 hours and probably won’t feel bad dropping and/or restarting from scratch another time. Same for Mr Driller, I guess.
Same also for the Gestufūmaden rogue-like and Egglia except the games aren’t very good.
Deedlit you can pretty much clear it in an afternoon. It’s a very short game, around 6 hours.
Never played Lo-Fi Ping Pong. I picked Kirby.
It definitely uses rumble, I’m not sure how much mileage it gets out of the HD. Might be used for some cute edge cases like the fishing minigame, but certainly never for anything progression-related like the moons in Super Mario Odyssey.
You and I have the same equipment with those Raphnet adapters, so I just went ahead and tested this whole setup for you. It works like a charm! No functionality is lost and it actually feels surprisingly “right.” I might replay the game myself like this, lol (some minigames do utilize the X and Y buttons, but they are optional and could be mapped to the C/L/R buttons)
@treefroggy Ace Attorney games are neato-mosquito but I prefer the visuals in the ds versions, so my vote goes for Egglia! It’s adorable…
That being said, I haven’t actually played it myself so I’m hoping you play it so I can read what you have to say about it hehe
Indecisiveness is a heck of a thing
my poll is failing at giving me a strong lead haha
OK! Silent Hill has over 50% of the votes, time to try to solve very easy, accessible puzzles that make complete sense.
@treefroggy I voted for Thimbleweed Park, but I realised I’m not sure what your history with point-and-click adventure games is. If you do not like the Lucasarts style adventure games, you will not like this. My backup vote in that case goes to Loop Hero. I had a real joyous time playing that game.
@treefroggy I voted Triangle Strategy cuz it has the dumbest name lol
I second that Ace Attorney DS has way better graphics. Save scumming on older versions is annoying since you have to close the game to reload but it kind of make you commit to your deeds.
@Nate I am just kidding btw. Most of the puzzles so far have been really fun and satisfying to solve.
@treefroggy I voted Triangle Strategy because it’s a great game, but you do have to have the right state of mind. You gotta be ready to buckle up to spend 30-45 minutes between each map doing cutscenes, collecting items, and battle preparations.
If you’re looking for something easier to jump in and out of, Dungeon Encounters would be a good one.
@Funbil the official Nintendo switch GCN controller adapter does not work with Kirby sadly. If I manage to hack it to work that could be cool. Pretty bummed it doesn’t though.
Not sure what you mean with raphnet adapters. I have some of those for other consoles, but for switch I was referring to the NSO n64 controller.
When I played the demo of forgetful kirby I couldn’t find my pro controller and I played it with a usb saturn controller. it was a nice experience!
I intended to vote for kirby but was on mobile and my finger ended up somewhere else lol
My reasoning for kirby is that you were the only person that replied to my post saying that I couldn’t get into the game, and it felt dead to me cause kirby doesn’t have voice effects
@穴 I don’t remember that post very clearly. But go to the “now playing 2023” thread to see that I similarly am not vibing with Kirby’s god forsaken.
Dungeon Encounters next. It seems like 90% more my thing. Is the character design done by someone who worked on FFTA or something?(where do I recognize the art style from?) And the writing, oh man the writing is very un-video-gamey in a good way. Reminds me of Crimson Shroud!
Itō Ryōma
Not to be mistaken with the creator, writer and director of the game
Itō Hiroyuki
Oh! That’s my mistake then. A few months ago you and I spoke about the GCN/N64 adapters, and you mentioned having one just a few days ago. I guess I connected the wrong dots, but they may be the right ones in the end! You can definitely use these adapters!
I recorded a quick vid showing that it definitely does. A while back my adapter also seemingly stopped working for some reason, but as you can see it’s working alright now. I don’t know what happened or why it works again suddenly. Maybe they weren’t built to last? Not sure.
@chazumaru nailed it :)
@Funbil woaaahhh thanks. Well mine is brand new. I may try again and see if it makes me like the game more, if I can get it to work.
Does the music get…. Better?
@treefroggy I remember really loving most of the music in the snow world stages, but beyond that I can’t really remember much. As far as Kirby goes it’s not one of the better soundtracks
@chazumaru this is the most Matsuno non Matsuno game. The Queen-sounding battle music, the FFTA2 art style, the tabletop sim jrpg hybrid… love it
