I was listening to a non-Insert Credit podcast and one of the host completely shut down Triangle Strategy because the cutscenes are too long. I don't usually get mad a silly content creator stuff but I was annoyed lol.
The cutscenes and characters are some of the best parts!
My eyeballs usually roll to the back of my head when videogames attempt a sort of Game of Thrones-y political intrigue. For example, I couldn't enjoy Final Fantasy Type-0 because those early cutscenes lore dropping about the kingdoms, the great war-of-insert-date, and the treaties etc.
But it didn't bother me so much. The political intrigue was there but it was simple and straightforward enough to not completely annoy or bore me.
Not sure if that helps lol but great game highly recommend.
@MovingCastles hmmmm I like GoT wannabe stuff usually. I am an enjoyer of both FFT translations.
Tactics ogre is something I chose to only play on original hardware on my crt, and fully commit to when I do pick it up, so the switch port is sort of out of the question for me, so instead, for that fix on switch, I will try triangle strategy.
For the record, my above post about matsuno was referring to Dungeon Encounters, not Triangle Strategy, in case there was confusion. Hehe
@treefroggy Iām basing this purely on reputation and some YouTube videos it seems like FFT and Tactics Ogre are some of the better examples of that kind of writing in videogames.
Oh I was broadly adding to the other āTriangle Strategy is actually good thoughā posts here.
I do also want to check out Dungeon Encounters at some point. I did buy Legal Dungeon when searching DE on PSN though.
the plot in tactics ogre is incomprehensible to me (i believe all the clues and lore notes are there to make it comprehensible for the patient), but the dialogue does something special where it comes sooooo close to camp without ever crossing the line so it just ends up being badass.
@treefroggy Donāt worry!
Iāve already started playing and enjoyed all of this games so far. I only make these polls for fun, to know yallās opinion and to actually push myself to play something different for a change.
Also, I probably should put Umineko: When They Cry on one of these polls at some point. My friendsā screams are not getting any quieter.
@Nate There are a lot of beautiful tracks, honestly (like Fantasian, although itās not that great of a soundtrack).
But damn, that made me want to replay that again. One of the few JRPGs that felt like an adventure, too.
