Tried it out with Sakura Taisen—works great! There’s a [surprisingly long list of supported games](https://segaretro.org/Shuttle_Mouse#List_of_supported_games), too. I’m enjoying my continued Saturnian journey of discovery.
I am pretty sure this thing was new old stock actually, it was in immaculate condition and all the paperwork was there. The Surugaya listing said it was used but as you can see from the screen it literally didn’t have the system software installed on it yet. It’s a super neat piece of hardware too, the included disc contains not only the SDK but also the entire source code for the kernel, bootloader, system menu, and so on. I’m pretty infatuated with it. You can even get modified kernels that add new features like keyboard and mouse emulation over USB and support for SD cards.
It’s a lovely machine and surprisingly cheap to pick up if you can actually find one. I’ve been working on a website to catalogue the games for it with screenshots and download links and stuff. I also introduced someone to it who created a much more complete emulator than I could have for the RG350 and some other Chinese handhelds. Good console imo.
Got a mysterious package! Only opened over the weekend, and this will help me continue my journey through the games at the top of this forum‘s poll list! Manual’s intact and everything…[upl-image-preview url=//i.imgur.com/aIIzjIY.jpeg]
Been a while since I got anything in the mail - I've not been purchasing things for a specific reason but I wanted @"Personasama"#28's patrako keychain (thanks for the excellent art, too! Featuring bonk!), and @"Kimimi"#156 was talking about Dragon Drive D-Masters Shot in a way that made me want it, and I saw a copy for under $20 shipped and just... Went for it. It's got a good soundtrack and is a treasure rail shooter, licensed though it may be, and I have a region modded gamecube so why not.
@“Kimimi”#p44206 I thought you did!!! Uh… maybe somebody else did and I ascribed it to you ha ha. WELL SOMEBODY SAID SOMETHING and it made me buy a game that's the important thing.
I guess you wrote about it in 2016, that's not very recent. hmm. (also I don't know if that thing you wrote was complimentary since it's not online anymore)
Not very video game related but unfortunately I found a diecast car specialty store in the area that has a selection at least adjacent to my taste in real life cars. As a result I got these in the mail recently.
Note that even though the shipping container on the back of the truck opens up and all three are from the same manufacturer, neither car fits cleanly in because they‘re both too wide. The Audi wagon almost fits if not for the wing mirrors, and the BMW Supra just doesn’t fit at all thanks to the widebody kit. That's OK
@“exodus”#p44207 I wouldn‘t have recommended Dragon Drive, that’s for sure! It‘s one of the most phoned-in games I’ve ever played, and definitely not the “What if Treasure made Panzer Dragoon?” experience the internet sold it to me as D:
This is a pretty exciting little package. It’s a reproduction cartridge of the Wonderwitch, the hobbyist wonderswan development kit. I got it for an unreasonably reasonable price, $35 shipped. I‘ve gotta put together a cable for it still, but the person I bought it from installed Self-Produce (an M-Kai shmup) on it before shipping it out. I’ll probably end up picking up one of the expensive but high quality cables the RetroOnyx guy put together. I'm real stoked about it.
I'm probably gonna swap the cases for VII and IX, since if you go back a couple replies you'll see I've already got a copy of that. Bravely Default I've been interested in for a while as well, finally nabbed a copy not through any kind of purchase but by trading with one of my friends. A lot of 3DS games seem to have gotten quite cheap but this one somehow managed to retain its value, so I was pleased to swing one without forking any cash. Hopefully the fact that it still goes for retail price used is some indication of its quality...!
For the condition it's in, I'm proud of that copy of Kirby, too. Complete and in beautiful shape, that game is floating around $30-50 from what I was seeing. However, this one was swimming out in the wild for only $15... That's the price of just the cartridge alone, or with a box in poor condition! It'd be irresponsible of me to _not_ get it, right?? Great game, gorgeous box, excellent condition, less than half the price these would normally go for - really glad to have this one in my collection.
@“the-concrete-captain”#p46664 Nice! I picked up that Patlabor box myself not too long ago. I‘ve only watched a few episodes of the OVA so far and it hasn’t really grabbed me yet, but I'm going to keep watching on the basis of its reputation (especially the second movie, which everyone seems to talk about!).
@“kory”#p46751 Not sure how anathema it is to say this but just skip right to the first movie! See if that does it for you, maybe the OVA series (and subsequently the TV series) will be more appealing as a dessert course.
I picked up the first two movies a few years ago for cheap after also hearing some kind of vague superlative about the second one. Watched the first one a couple weeks ago having not seen any other material—it didn't shatter my mind, I don't want to hype it up, but it is among the best times I've had with a movie since March 2020. It was exactly what I was in the mood for following my [Ghost in the Shell](https://forums.insertcredit.com/d/734-im-a-fan-of-so-please-recommend-more-like/148) experience earlier in the year.
