Insert Credit Forums Remake
October 2024
the scariest spooks are belated
Boo! Insert Credit Forums Remake is back from the dead!
I had the idea back in February to create a fun, newspaper-styled recap of the forum’s activities each month. After that initial issue, though, I lost motivation, my life became a bit busier, and I failed to deliver the next issue. I’m trying again, however, and this time, I’ve received the help of others (well, Gaagaagiins’ feedback was invaluable for the first one, and I forgot to thank him, but still)! Death_Strandicoot created the wonderful logo you see above, Gaagaagiins and Tradegood contributed some writing, and FishHead offered some useful feedback and helped brainstorm some ideas!
Now, onto the October 2024 issue of Insert Credit Forums Remake!
(Well, first: due to the 8 month hiatus, I’ll reintroduce each section, for those who joined in the meanwhile, or just forgot)
ICFR Jams
~SNES Tunes for Hanging Out Edition~
A brand new section, starting with this installment of Insert Credit Forums Remake! A short playlist you can listen to as you read the issue (or listen to later, or ignore entirely!)
This month, some songs from the SNES:
Forum Clubs
This section will detail what the forum’s various clubs have been up to in the prior month.
Last month the only active club was the Monthly Game Club. To partake in this season of spookiness, the club played Baroque. Players were split between the Saturn, Playstation, and Wii versions of the game, though most seemed to enjoy it regardless of platform. There was also an interesting delve into the potential inspirations behind the game’s foreboding, industrial aesthetic.
…speaking of industrial aesthetics…
This month, the club will be playing Factorio. “In playing Factorio, you will feel a connection on a spiritual level to all of your ancestors who, since time immemorial, felt a deep sense of peace while they performed meticulous and intricate labor, quietly and thoughtfully, their hands moving in practiced precision as they weaved and sorted and carved out the beautiful dreams of the future. Also available on Mac, Linux, and Switch.” - Gaagaagiins
Thread Spotlight
This section will spotlight threads that perhaps were forgotten, particularly stand out, or otherwise are deemed deserving of a spotlight!
This month’s thread is the “Easy” games thread, started by saddleblasters, and chosen for a spotlight by Tradegood:
“I thought a fun way to ease back into NoJoTo’s project is to highlight the joy of easy games! There’s an interesting discussion from years ago about why stress-free games can be so appealing, it could be interesting to see if people’s opinions or reasons for liking easy games has changed over time. It’s also neat to hear how our resident game designers approach difficulty :)” - Tradegood
Gossip Corner
This forum is just so full of gossip… who can say whether or not any of it is true, but does it matter? Why let the pursuit of truth get in the way of pursuing alluring scandal and shock? Loosen up, come here, and read some anonymously submitted gossip…
- Forum user yeso used to go by no-o, before a mysterious event changed the course of his life forever… (our investigators are working to confirm whether this event was Pathologic 2 or A Mind Forever Voyaging)
- A crack team of the Insert Credit forum’s baddest Midwesterners were once on the cusp of putting into motion a surefire, nigh-Rube Goldberg-ian sequence of events which would have resulted in the public execution of one Todd Howard in the middle of a keynote speech at E3. What stopped them? Well, their plan would have only worked for E3 2022… which has led some to believe this was the true reason for its cancellation.
- connrrr’s days of stealing r’s were thought to be over, but overheard scheming seems to indicate that was only the beginning…
- Death_Strandicoot has been rumored to consort with Dr. Mario…
(Insert Credit Forums Remake takes no responsibility for any of the claims made in the “Gossip Corner”)
New Threads
This section will list all the new threads of the last month, with a short summary of each (except for club, podcast episode, and Discourse test threads).

The Conclusion
Well, this is almost the end of the October 2024 issue of Insert Credit Forums Remake! As was mentioned in the introduction, the contributions of others were incredibly useful in the creation of this, and moving forward, I want those to increase! If having read this you’re interested in helping put future issues together, be it by writing, proofreading, brainstorming ideas, or elsehow, or if you’re just interested in seeing how this thing gets put together, please join this discord server!
Now, there’s only one thing left, and it’s arguably the most important…
Unofficial Mascot for the Month
This section will decide, once and for all (of the next month), who the forum’s unofficial mascot will be. Forum members submit characters they wish to represent us, and then those characters battle it out through the power of a poll. (If you want to submit a character for next month, please DM, private message, send a message in a bottle across the ocean, or otherwise privately contact me, though only the first 4 people’s submissions will make it in).
Now, for this month’s entries:
- Vibri, from Vib-Ribbon (submitted by MovingCastles)
- James Pond, from James Pond 2: Codename: RoboCod (submitted by connrrr)
- “Finger-gun” Princess Toadstool, from Super Mario Bros. (submitted by Death_Strandicoot)
- Gitaroo Man, from Gitaroo Man (submitted by Fishhead)
The winner is in your hands!
